Description

Iron can be present in water in soluble form. Effects of iron in water:

• Excessive iron will create a rusty color with reddish or orange staining of plumbing fixtures.
• A metallic taste may also be present with excess iron.
• If iron bacteria is present, gelatinous sludge may be present on plumbing fixtures or cause pipe encrustation.

These test strips are designed to test iron at very low levels in water:

1. Dip test strip into the water sample for 30 seconds,
2. Remove the strip and wait 2 minutes,
3. Then match colour change to closest colour on colour chart.
